Van Oord, the EPCI contractor for the project’s foundations and inter-array cables, will hold its webinar on 6 July.

The Dutch company will cover concrete structures, secondary steel, cathodic protection for foundations, cable hang-offs, testing and termination works, connectors, and cable cleats, among others.

This is followed by GE’s HVDC transmission system webinar the day later, as well Prysmian’s meeting on 8 July for export cables.

Prysmian’s topics include pre-lay survey, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), boulder and route clearance, mattressing, shore end works, cable protection system, crew transfer vessels, guard vessels, as well as heli services and land installation

After each webinar, one-to-one meetings will be arranged for potential suppliers, primarily tier 2 or 3, with the contractors.

Sofia, located on Dogger Bank, 195 kilometers from the nearest point on the UK’s North East coast, will feature 100 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines.

Offshore construction will kick off in 2023, with the commissioning of the 1.4 GW project expected by the fourth quarter of 2026.
