Spain-based Windar Renovables has transferred the first transition piece (TP) for the 1.4 GW East Anglia Three offshore wind project from its offshore facility to the Port of Avilés for completion.
Under the contract signed with Iberdrola in May 2023, Windar Renovables is responsible for constructing 95 transition pieces for the East Anglia Three offshore wind project.
The production of the TPs, which will be shipped to the UK, is carried out mainly at the Asturian company’s facilities located in Avilés. The company plans to complete the manufacturing by mid-2025.
Each of these pieces will have maximum dimensions of 20 metres in height, 8 metres in diameter, and 300 tonnes in weight.

The East Anglia Three project is wholly owned by ScottishPower Renewables, part of the Iberdrola group.
The offshore wind farm, situated some 69 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk, England, is a 1.4 GW wind farm project in the East Anglia Hub. The GBP 6.5 billion (around EUR 7.4 billion) East Anglia Hub project also includes two other offshore wind farms: the 800 MW East Anglia One North and the 900 MW East Anglia Two .
East Anglia Three, expected to start delivering electricity in 2026, was awarded its Contract for Difference (CfD) in July 2022 from the UK Government.
The project will feature 95 Siemens Gamesa 14+MW wind turbines across an area of 305 square kilometres.
