According to NIRAS, the partnership is a stepping stone for the company to further expand its business in France and the field of offshore wind development.

The partnership with NIRAS is key for Egis to increase its consulting and engineering services in the field of renewable energies, in particular offshore wind projects in France, said Egis.

“With the upcoming tenders for Bretagne South, Port-La-Nouvelle, Fos-sur-Mer, Atlantic South and Center Manche II, the offshore wind market in France entails a number of interesting and challenging projects, where we in NIRAS with our strong track record and international experience can generate tremendous value and solutions on both engineering and environmental aspects – with the collaboration agreement with Egis, we join forces to provide the best combination between International and local content,” said Thor Ugelvig Petersen, Vice-President in NIRAS.

“To summarize the rationale behind this partnership, I would say that NIRAS knows how to build huge and complex offshore wind farms when Egis knows how to deliver major and multidisciplinary projects in France,” said Jean-Emmanuel Seixas, Energy and Environment Advisor at Egis.

France has set a target of reaching 18 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035 and 45 GW by 2050.

The country’s first commercial-scale wind farm, the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire, was fully commissioned in November 2022.
