Vessels

Ulstein Verft delivered the construction service operation vessel (CSOV) Olympic Boreas to Norwegian vessel owner Olympic on 25 July, two years after Olympic ordered two CSOVs from its compatriot shipbuilder. The second vessel is under construction which started at the beginning of 2023.

The vessels are of the ULSTEIN SX222 design and have a length of 89.6 metres, a beam of 19.2 metres, and can accommodate 126 people in 91 cabins.

The CSOVs are powered by diesel-electric propulsion with variable speed and large battery energy storage systems. Ulstein Power & Control has been contracted to deliver an extended power and automation package, including a large battery supply.

Olympic’s CSOVs will feature Ampelmann’s gangways, while the energy storage systems and main switchboards will be delivered by Corvus Energy and Acel, respectively. Vard Electro will provide its SeaQ communication system for both CSOVs.

Olympic and Ulstein signed the contract for the two vessels in July 2022 and later the same year, the first steel was cut for Olympic Boreas at the Crist yard in Poland which has been tasked with building the hulls.

In April, Olympic Boreas was launched from the dock hall at Ulstein Verft, Norway.
