Cadeler’s new wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) Wind Peak has arrived in Rotterdam and, according to its owner, is ready to commence the first mobilisation for a client.
“It’s been 73 days since our newbuild Cadeler wind installation vessel left the shipyard in Qidong and crossed the ocean for the very first time. Since then, it has sailed more than 14,000 nautical miles with stops in Singapore, Cape Town, Las Palmas and now, Rotterdam” , Cadeler said in a social media post on 14 November.
The company took delivery of Wind Peak , its first P-class jack-up installation vessel, from the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in Qidong, China, in August. In October, Cadeler signed contracts with Polenergia and Equinor to install wind turbines at the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in Poland, where it plans to deploy an O-class and a P-class vessel to perform the work.
The Wind Peak vessel is designed to operate at some of the most challenging offshore installations worldwide and to handle some of the largest wind turbine components in the industry, according to Cadeler.
The WTIV can transport and install seven complete 15 MW turbine sets or five sets of 20+ MW turbines per load.
Wind Peak features a deck space of 5,600 square metres, has a payload capacity of over 17,600 tonnes and a main crane capacity of above 2,500 tonnes at 53 metres. The vessel can accommodate up to 130 crew members and installation technicians.
COSCO shipyard is building another P-class vessel for Cadeler, Wind Pace , which is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025.
