ZTT’s flagship monopile installation vessel, Zhongtian 39, has received key upgrades to enhance its capabilities in offshore wind projects, according to a recent social media post from the China-based Tier 1 supplier.

The vessel, launched in October 2023, now features a DP2 dynamic positioning system for precise, anchorless positioning in challenging offshore environments, said ZTT.

ZTT also expanded the accommodation capacity to 210 and added a helipad to Zhongtian 39.

Zhongtian 39, with a length of 215 metres and a breadth of 51.8 metres, is equipped with two primary cranes: a fully rotating 3,500-tonne hook and a fixed stern crane capable of lifting up to 5,000 tonnes.

These cranes allow the vessel to handle 3,200-tonne wind turbine foundations and 4,500-tonne substation topsides, according to ZTT.

The vessel is equipped with a MENCK 3500 kJ hydraulic pile hammer, the company said in October 2023. Its deck is designed to support either a full jacket structure or two monopiles, each measuring 10 metres in diameter and 120 metres in length.

ZTT’s work in offshore wind outside China is predominantly focused on subsea cables through its subsidiary ZTT Submarine Cable & System.

The company recently won two engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contracts for the 850 MW Guoxin Dafeng Offshore Wind Power Project in China.
