Ziton Expands Its Fleet with Another Jack-Up Vessel

Business & Finance

Denmark’s Ziton has expanded its fleet with the addition of another jack-up vessel to support its operations and maintenance (O&M) services in the offshore wind sector.

The jack-up vessel WIND DISCOVERY, which was built in 2011, has been registered in the Danish International Register of Shipping.

The ship has recently been involved in the transport and installation (T&I) of new offshore wind farms. It will now be upgraded before entering the O&M market for major component replacements.

“The addition of WIND DISCOVERY marks a significant investment in our ability to support the offshore wind industry as it grows. The vessel’s capabilities are well-suited to the segment of larger turbines, and we are excited to include her in our fleet and upgrade her to our high ZITON standards,” said Thorsten Jalk, CEO of Ziton.

Once the upgrades are done, the vessel will be ready to serve under a time charter agreement for a “large customer”, set to commence in the second quarter of 2025, according to the company.

The fleet of Ziton-operated wind vessels now includes six O&M-dedicated jack-ups, making it the largest operational fleet of jack-up vessels in the European offshore wind industry, the firm said.

In September 2024, Macquarie Asset Management announced its plans to acquire 100 per cent ownership of Ziton.
