Ventyr Energy (Ventyr Energi), a consortium consisting of Parkwind and Ingka Investments, has selected Ramboll for the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) of the Sørlige Nordsjø II (Southern North Sea II) offshore wind farm in Norway.

This month, Ramboll will start with the basic foundation design for the project’s anticipated monopile foundations, which will accommodate turbines in the 15 – 18 MW class, the Denmark-headquartered company said on 13 January. For the Sørlige Nordsjø II project on the Norwegian Outer Continental Shelf )OCS), Ramboll will, among other things, tackle the challenging site conditions 200 kilometres offshore with a maximum water depth of 60 metres, according to the company.

“Ramboll’s unmatched expertise in XXL monopile design and extensive North Sea experience carry our trust. By incorporating the geotechnical data collected over the past weeks and months, we can confidently work together to create a resilient and forward-thinking foundation solution”, said Peter Caluwaerts, Head of Projects at Parkwind.

The Ventyr Energy consortium won the rights to develop the offshore wind project at the Sørlige Nordsjø II zone with a winning bid of NOK 1.15/kWh (EUR 0.099/kWh) in March 2024, in Norway’s first offshore wind auction offering 1.5 GW in the fixed-bottom offshore wind zone.

“With Sørlige Nordsjø II we finally see a major offshore wind project being developed in Norwegian waters. We are proud that Ventyr has chosen Ramboll to contribute our engineering expertise at an early stage of this project, which will bring green energy to over 500.000 households in Norway”, said Tim Fischer, Global Executive Director Wind in Ramboll.

“The work will be executed by our Danish team backed up by our global specialists, but we will also use it to further grow our local team in Oslo to be ready to further support the growing Norwegian offshore wind market.”
