Buss Terminal Eemshaven Expands Capacity for Offshore Wind

Ports & Logistics

Buss Terminal Eemshaven has expanded its terminal capacity with an additional heavy-duty storage area and quay access designed to support the offshore wind sector and other industries.

The expansion includes the addition of about 15 hectares of heavy-duty storage area, and a 200-metre quayside connecting to the Beatrixhaven, complementing the existing footprint of the terminal.

The new heavy-duty area, capable of loads up to 30 tonnes/m2, enhances the terminal’s ability and flexibility to serve the offshore wind sector as well as other industries.

The new area includes shared priority access to the Beatrixhaven heavy-duty quay capable of handling up to 30 tonnes/m2, and it directly connects to the terminal’s existing areas and quay in the Julianahaven.

“We are pleased to announce that Buss Terminal Eemshaven has grown to become the largest offshore logistics terminal operator in the European North Sea. This expansion will allow us to meet the increasing demands of our clients, particularly in the offshore wind sector, and to continue to provide flexible logistics solutions across a range of industries,” said Marc Wegman, Managing Director of Buss Terminal Eemshaven.

With a combined total area of 460,000 square metres, Buss Terminal Eemshaven provides additional capacity to service a broad range of customers with logistics needs, including offshore, onshore, and breakbulk operations as well as general cargo.

At the end of last year, Ecowende, a joint venture between Shell, Chubu, and Eneco, selected Buss Terminal Eemshaven as the marshalling port for the construction of the Hollandse Kust West VI offshore wind farm.

Buss Ports, through its Eemshaven terminal and its subsidiary Buss Offshore Solutions, will provide support for the logistics and construction phases of the 760 MW project.
