Glamox to Illuminate Cadeler’s A-Class Installation Vessel

Business & Finance

Norway’s Glamox has been awarded a contract by COSCO Shipping to supply lights for Cadeler’s hybrid wind turbine installation vessel, Wind Apex.

Under the contract, Glamox will provide 2,342 marine LED lights for the exterior and interior of the NG 20000F A-Class vessel, which includes lighting for the bridge, internal stairways, galleys, corridors, crew quarters, the engine room, and the exterior of the newbuild.

Lighting ranges from reading lights in cabins and downlights to tough linear water-resistant luminaires and explosion-proof luminaires. The company will also provide floodlights and searchlights.

Glamox will deliver the lighting in April 2026.

“Our customers demand lighting that a vessel’s crew can depend on. Lighting that is long-lasting, energy-efficient, and can cope with the harshest marine environments,” said Tommy Stranden, Chief Sales and Commercial Officer for Glamox’s Marine, Offshore & Wind Division.

Cadeler placed an order with China’s COSCO Shipping for its third A-class vessel in May 2024. Wind Apex will have a deck space of 5,600 square metres, and a payload capacity of more than 17,000 tonnes.

The vessel will be 162 metres long and 60 metres wide, and with its four 119-metre-long legs, it is capable of installing large foundation pieces and turbines, such as the Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD units.

Wind Apex is expected to be delivered to Cadeler in the first half of 2027.
