CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) has started the 2025 installation campaign for the 1 GW Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan.
The 1,022 MW Hai Long project comprises two offshore wind farms, the 518 MW Hai Long 2 and the 504 MW Hai Long 3, and is being developed in three phases. Hai Long 2 is further split into two smaller offshore wind farms, the 294 MW Hai Long 2a and the 224 MW Hai Long 2b.
Building on last year’s achievements, CDWE has recently completed pin pile installation at the first Hai Long 3 locations, according to the company’s recent social media post.
“During the past winter months, when offshore operations were paused due to weather conditions, our Green Jade team worked tirelessly to carry out essential maintenance, ensuring the vessel was in top condition for this year’s installation season,” said CDWE.
The Hai Long Offshore Wind Project joint venture (Northland Power, Mitsui & Co., and Gentari) announced the official start of offshore construction on 11 April 2024.
In November of last year, CDWE completed the first offshore installation campaign for the Hai Long offshore wind project. The company wrapped up the installation of 37 foundations, the offshore substation at Hai Long 2, and the jacket foundation of the Hai Long 3 offshore substation, using the Taiwan-flagged vessel Green Jade .
The vessel will be deployed on the Hai Long offshore wind farm until 2026.
Located approximately 45-70 kilometres off the Changhua coast in the Taiwan Strait, the project will feature Siemens Gamesa’s SG 14-222 DD turbines .
