Ørsted

Ørsted is seeking a contractor to monitor birds and bats at two of its offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea, once they are up and running.

According to a contract notice on an EU tenders website, the contract is valued at EUR 26.3 million and covers post‑construction monitoring of bats, seabirds, and migratory birds and collision‑risk assessment of bats and migratory birds for the Natura 2000 Slupsk Bank and the Baltica 2 & 3 offshore wind farms. The scope includes offshore surveys, data analysis, regulatory reporting, and authority liaison to ensure compliance with environmental permit requirements.

The main contract is for Baltica 2, while part of the scope for Baltica 2 and all scope related to Baltica 3 are included as options, which can only be called by the developer’s prior written notice.

The deadline for submission of tenders is 15 October 2026, with the work expected to be executed from 2027 to 2032.

Located off the Polish coast between Łeba and Ustka, the 2.5 GW Baltica 2 & 3 are owned and operated by a 50/50 joint venture between Ørsted and PGE.

Baltica 2 is currently under construction, with all foundations recently installed, including 107 monopiles for the project’s wind turbines and four foundations for the offshore substations.

The 1.5 GW offshore wind farm will comprise 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines and is scheduled for commissioning in 2027.
