Windward Offshore has officially named its third commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV), Windward Munich, during a ceremony in Hamburg on 22 September.
Built by Vard Vung Tau in Vietnam, Windward Munich was delivered in July, following the deliveries of Windward Athens in September 2025 and Windward Paris in January 2026. All three vessels entered charters shortly after delivery. Windward took delivery of its fourth newbuild CSOV in September as Vard handed over Windward Hamburg to its owner.
Based on the Vard 4 19 design, the vessels measure 87.5 metres in length and 19.5 metres in beam. The CSOVs are fitted with motion-compensated gangways, advanced crane systems and hybrid propulsion technology prepared for future operation on green methanol. Two of the four vessels, Windward Munich and Windward Hamburg, are also equipped with a helideck.
Windward Offshore, established by SeaRenergy Group, Blue Star Group, Diana Shipping, and SeraVerse, ordered two hybrid CSOVs from Vard in October 2023. In January 2024, the company exercised its option to order two additional vessels of the same design.
The first two CSOVs, Windward Athens and Windward Paris, are chartered by RWE until the vessels the offshore wind developer has chartered from North Star become available.
