All 76 Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines are in place at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland, jointly owned by Orlen and Northland Power.
Over one-third of the turbines are currently generating power, according to Canada-based Northland Power, which said on 7 October that the project was on track for commercial operations in 2026.
The company also said the costs of the project, which is now advancing through commissioning, were aligned with original expectations.
Orlen said that the Installation of Baltic Power’s final turbine marked the completion of “the largest offshore campaign ever carried out in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea.” According to the wind farm’s co-owner, around 7,000 people and 110 vessels were involved in the project.
The first wind turbine at the Baltic Power site, located over 23 kilometres off the coast of the Choczewo municipality, was installed in July 2025.
Electricity generated by Baltic Power fed into Poland’s national power grid in July this year, marking the first time the electricity produced by offshore wind turbines was added to the country’s energy mix.
The 1.2 GW offshore wind farm, which has a 25-year contract for difference (CfD), is expected to generate approximately 4 TWh of electricity annually, equivalent to approximately 3 per cent of Poland’s current electricity demand and enough to power more than 1.5 million Polish households, according to Orlen and Northland Power.
