Aventa has acquired Irish Sea Contractors (ISC) to broaden its services in subsea cable landfalls, marine infrastructure, and commercial diving and cable repair.

The French company said on 13 October that the combined capabilities will cover subsea cable landfall and nearshore installation, port and harbour construction and maintenance, commercial diving, and underwater inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM). The acquisition also adds ISC’s AERSUB subsea cable repair solution to Aventa’s offering.

“Clients benefit when knowledge moves smoothly from engineering and planning into offshore execution”, said Aurélien Zuccarini, Chief Growth & Talent Officer and Co-Founder of Aventa. “Combining ISC’s delivery experience with our engineering, consulting and existing operational expertise will help us improve constructability, manage interfaces and provide continuity through installation and long-term asset support.”

ISC has supported fibre-optic and power cable projects in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, delivering services on cable landfalls, pull-ins, nearshore installation, burial, protection and remedial activities.

Aventa, which plans to invest in operations in Ireland, said the move advances its strategy to expand its Operations business alongside the company’s Engineering and Consulting activities, adding ISC’s teams and project experience to the transport and installation, cable installation and other offshore scopes already delivered by Aventa’s Operations unit.

“As Aventa supports developers, operators, transmission system operators, cable manufacturers and installation contractors on marine energy and transmission projects, and because offshore wind and interconnector projects grow in scale and complexity, decisions made during design increasingly need to account for installation methods, seabed conditions, vessel constraints and the practicalities of offshore execution”, Aventa said on 13 October.

“Bringing these disciplines closer together helps clients anticipate operational constraints from the earliest stages of a project.”
