[Correction note: This article has been updated to state the current vessel at Dogger Bank B is Seaway Ventus.)
Cadeler has signed a firm contract to transport and install wind turbines at the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm in the UK, with its newbuild installation vessel Wind Apex scheduled to join the campaign in the third quarter of 2027.
Wind Apex will work alongside the project’s existing vessel contracted to transport and install 87 GE Vernova Haliade-X 14 MW turbines at Dogger Bank C, Cadeler said. Jan De Nul’s Voltaire has been deployed for the work under a contract for Dogger Bank A & B signed in 2020 and for Dogger Bank C in 2021. The vessel was recently joined by Seaway Ventus, which is currently installing wind turbines on Dogger Bank B.
Dogger Bank C will be Wind Apex’s first project following its delivery from the shipyard. The vessel, under construction at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in China, is the third in the company’s A-class series, following Wind Ally and Wind Ace, and is designed for both foundation and turbine installation work. Cadeler said Wind Apex could also be made available for work on the other phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
Dogger Bank C is the third phase of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm, located approximately 130 kilometres off the north-east coast of England. The project is owned by a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40 per cent), Equinor (40 per cent) and Vårgrønn (20 per cent), with SSE leading development and construction and Equinor set to operate the wind farm.
The 87 monopile foundations for Dogger Bank C were installed in 2025 by Seaway7, which marked the completion of foundation installation across the entire 3.6 GW project. The offshore substation for the third phase was also installed in 2025.
SSE and Equinor are also developing Dogger Bank D, the proposed fourth phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, which would add a further 1.5 GW to the 3.6 GW project.
