The Crown Estate is reviewing the feedback on its proposals for the fourth round of offshore wind leasing in the UK, which will help finalize the plans.

An update on the plans will be shared before a proposed launch and once The Crown Estate reviews all the feedback from the market and shareholders and considers the implications for the design of Round 4.

“As we work to finalise our plans for Round 4, we’ve been delighted to see high levels of engagement from both the market and stakeholders and we are grateful to everyone who has taken time to share their views,” said Jonny Boston, Business Development Manager at The Crown Estate.

“The feedback we have received will form an important input to our work to balance a range of interests on the seabed, as we seek to design a leasing process which is fair, responsible and competitive and which will help deliver on the UK’s low-carbon energy needs for decades to come.”

As part of the feedback process, The Crown Estate said it held dedicated events in November 2018, after which stakeholder organizations and the market were invited to share views on the proposed tender design for Round 4, as well as the work to refine the regions of seabed to be offered to the market.

Following the formal launch of the new round, expected in late Spring, The Crown Estate expects to hold a Bidders’ Information Day to set out further details about the tender process including the Pre-Qualification (PQQ) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) stages.
