The vessel installed the first Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbine at the site some 120km off the Yorkshire coast in early February.

Bold Tern is in charge of transporting and installing half of the 174 turbines. The remainder is set to be installed by A2SEA’s installation vessel Sea Challenger, which recently commenced the works.

Hornsea Project One comprises three offshore substations and the world’s first reactive compensation substation (RCS).

The 1.2GW project will become the largest offshore wind farm in the world when fully operational in 2020.
