Parkwind has appointed Fugro to perform the soil investigation. The campaign has started with the unexploded ordnance survey and will continue with the cone penetration testing (CPT) and borehole drilling.

The campaign has begun early February and is expected to last until May 2019. Thereafter, Parkwind will initiate the foundation design of both the wind turbines and the offshore high voltage substation.

The works will be performed by the vessels Fugro Meridian and Normand Flower.

Clément Helbig de Balzac, Project Manager of Arcadis Ost 1, said: “The start of the geotechnical survey is an important milestone for the Arcadis Ost 1 project which launches the next phase of the development process.”

The Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm is located approximately 19km northeast of the island Rügen, within the 12-nautical mile zone, in the federal state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In early 2018, Parkwind and the former Arcadis Ost shareholder, KNK Wind, teamed up to prepare the winning bid for the project covered by the German renewable energy support system. The project was officially awarded in April 2018.

Parkwind is the major shareholder in the Arcadis Ost 1 project.
