According to EDS, significant amounts of data have been gathered and will be compared with the original data collected in early 2018.

The trials are part of an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project which is expected to be completed in June.

“We are very grateful to EDF Renewables UK and all of our other partners who have enabled us to undertake these important trials and help to test this innovative technology,” said Marc Glenn, Technical Projects Manager.

“The data is currently being analysed and we look forward to preparing our conclusions as the project draws to a close.”

At the end of last year, EDS completed on-load tap changer (OLTC) maintenance work on EDF Renewables’ 66kV/33kV generator transformers at the 62.1MW offshore wind project.

Situated some 1.5km offshore Redcar in North Yorkshire, the Teesside wind farm comprises 27 Siemens (Gamesa) 2.3MW turbines which were officially inaugurated in 2014.
