The CTV, named Prosperous 1 (風盛1號), was ordered by the developer wpd and the service provider Deutsche Windtechnik from Prosperous Wind Shipping, and built by LungTeh shipyard.

“The vessel is the first locally built CTV for Prosperous Wind Shipping in Taiwan and will be used to transport local technicians and materials to Yunlin offshore wind farm”, Deutsche Windtechnik stated.

The Germany-headquartered service provider secured a contract for the Yunlin project with wpd in 2018, and later established a new regional unit in Taiwan.

Under the contract with wpd, Deutsche Windtechnik is in charge of a large part of wind turbine maintenance above and below water, as well as technical management for the Yunlin offshore wind farm.

The offshore wind farm, owned by wpd (73 per cent) and by a Sojitz Corp-led consortium (23 per cent), will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines installed some 8 kilometres off the Taiwanese coast.

The project is scheduled to come online in 2021.
