GE Readies First 40 Nacelles for Saint-Nazaire OWF

The first 40 Haliade 150-6MW nacelles for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm have exited GE Renewable Energy’s factory in Saint-Nazaire, France.

GE dispatched the first nacelle for the project from its factory in Montoir-de-Bretagne in February, when it was transported to the wind turbine pre-assembly site in the Port of Saint-Nazaire.

The company rolled out the first offshore wind turbine nacelle for the 480 MW offshore wind farm at its factory in September 2020. The factory is now being expanded to accommodate the production of nacelles for GE’s new Haliade-X turbines.

The Saint-Nazaire project will comprise 80 Haliade 150-6 MW turbines, installed between 12 and 20 kilometres off the coast of the Guérande peninsula.

The offshore wind farm, also known as Parc du Banc de Guérande, is scheduled to be operational in 2022, when it will become the first commercial-scale wind farm built in French waters.

The wind farm is being developed by Eolien Maritime France (EMF), a consortium of EDF Renouvelables, Enbridge, and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
