The CTVs, powered by two Caterpillar C32 engines driving fixed pitch propellers, can accommodate 24 technicians and six crew members, with personnel transfer to the wind turbines being facilitated by an AFS 2 active fendering system.

The 27-metre vessels were designed to meet the operational requirements of WEM Marine, which will use the CTVs to support offshore wind projects in the UK and European waters, said Strategic Marine.

According to the company, the WEM 5 and WEM 6 vessels are the very first to be launched from Strategic Marine’s new shipyard on Benoi Road in Singapore.

The shipyard built and delivered the vessels after WEM Marine placed an order for the two CTVs last year.

The new delivery follows WEM’s first order with Strategic Marine in September 2020, based on which the shipyard built two 27-metre CTVs of a Strat Cat design and delivered them to the owner in June 2021.

The same year, Strategic Marine presented its next-generation CTV of a Strat Cat design, which is said to offer enhanced vessel capabilities with a reduced environmental footprint and hybrid drive options.
