The pre-assembly works will start soon at Rønne Havn on the Danish Bornholm Island in the Baltic Sea.

In June last year, Parkwind ordered 27 Vestas V174-9.5 units which will be erected using the new Rotor Nacelle Assembly (RNA) installation method due to the challenging soil conditions at the project’s site and water depths of up to 45 metres.

The wind turbines will be installed using the semi-submersible vessel Thialf operated by Heerema Marine Contractors. The dual crane vessel will enable the floating installation method, involving dynamic lifting and installation of all turbine components.

Located northeast of the Island of Rügen in the German sector of the Baltic Sea, the 257 MW Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational in 2023.

Once commissioned, the wind farm’s 27 Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines will provide enough electricity to cover the needs of up to 300,000 German households.

Vestas and GWS have already worked together on projects such as Seagreen, Moray East, and Triton Knoll.
