The installation vessel Bold Tern left the Port of Taichung in Taiwan last week, loaded with the first sets of turbines for the offshore wind project, after undergoing an upgrade at Keppel FELS yard in Singapore which included the installation of a new crane with a bigger lifting capacity, as well as additional improvements to the deck space and stability.

Located some 15 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County, the 589 MW Changfang & Xidao offshore wind farms are owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), which holds the majority stake, and by two local life insurance companies, Taiwan Life Insurance, and TransGlobe Life Insurance.

Offshore construction at the project’s two sites started last year and is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2024, when the wind farms are scheduled to be fully commissioned.
