Euskalforging Rings for French Offshore Wind Project

Spain-based euskalforging has won a contract to produce rolled rings for the 496 MW Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier wind farm offshore France.

Under the contract, the company will manufacture rolled rings for 61 transition pieces that will be installed on the offshore wind project located 11.6 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres from Noirmoutier.

This month, Eiffage, through Eiffage Métal and its Belgian subsidiary Smulders, was awarded a contract by Éoliennes en Mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) to build the transition pieces for the offshore wind farm.

Production will start in the spring of 2023, with delivery commencing from early 2024 to mid-2024.

The project will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines planned to be commissioned by 2025.

Atlantique Offshore Energy will supply the substation topside, while China-based Dajin Heavy Industry will manufacture and deliver the monopiles for the Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.

Once fully complete, the wind farm will produce an average of 1,900 GWh per year to supply nearly 800,000 people with sustainable electricity.

When it comes to euskalforging, the Spanish company recently won a contract to produce flanges for the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm.
