Cadeler Secures More Wind Farm Work Offshore Poland

Denmark’s Cadeler has secured vessel reservation agreements with both MFW Bałtyk II Sp. z.o.o. and MFW Bałtyk III Sp. z.o.o., special purpose companies owned by Polenergia and Equinor.

According to Cadeler, the aggregate potential value of the vessel reservation agreements is expected to be between EUR 110 million and EUR 130 million.

Cadeler’s project covers the installation of 100 wind turbines in the Polish Baltic Sea for which the company will utilise both an O-class and a P-class vessel, the company said.

The wind turbine installation work is planned to begin in 2027.

The Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects are offshore wind farms located in the Baltic Sea, approximately 27 and 40 kilometres from the Port of Łeba, respectively.

The two wind farms will feature Siemens Gamesa’s SG 14-236 DD wind turbines with a total capacity of 1,440 MW.

The monopiles will be supplied by the Dutch company Sif Group under a contract signed with the developers in February 2024.

Other contractors that will work on the project include Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables, Seaway7, and Heerema Marine Contractors.

In the second phase of the development of the Polish offshore wind sector, Equinor and Polenergia are also implementing the Bałtyk I project. An offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 1,560 MW will be located approximately 80 km from the coast near Łeba.

All three Bałtyk wind farms will have a total capacity of up to 3 GW, providing green energy to over four million households, according to the developers.

When it comes to Cadeler, the company recently signed another contract in Poland with PGE Group and Ørsted for the installation of wind turbines at the Baltica 2 offshore wind project.
