Enefit Green Opens Tender for Metocean Survey Campaign at 1 GW Estonian Offshore Wind Site

Contracts & Tenders

Estonia-based renewable energy developer Enefit Green is currently running a competitive tender for a meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) campaign at the company’s Liivi offshore wind site in the Estonian part of the Gulf of Riga.

The tender, first issued in mid-July with a submission deadline date set to 1 August, has now been prolonged until 5 August.

The project’s initial technical design (pre-FEED) has been completed, Enefit Green states in the notice, with the 1 GW project considering using 12-20 MW offshore wind turbines with an expected height of the hub of up to 160 metres.

The project site where the turbines are planned to be installed, located ten kilometres off the island of Kihnu, has a water depth of between 14 metres and 30 metres, and a seabed consisting mainly of glacial sediments.

Enefit plans to have the Liivi offshore wind farm built by 2030, subject to obtaining all necessary approvals.

The environmental impact assessment (EIA) programme for the 1 GW project was approved in 2021, and the EIA surveys at the site in the Gulf of Riga started in 2022 with the first seabed surveys, wind measurements, and bird surveys already carried out.

The developer is currently working on a preliminary design of the offshore wind farm which will contain all the components and alternatives considered for the project.

At the beginning of July, the company opened a tender for geotechnical site investigation services, which closes on 26 July.

Enefit Green acquired full ownership of the 1 GW Liivi offshore wind project from Eesti Energia, the state-owned energy company and Enefit’s majority owner, in March 2023.
