Dajin Cuts Into Windanker Steel

China’s Dajin Heavy Industry has started manufacturing monopile foundations for the 315 MW Windanker offshore wind farm project in the German Baltic Sea.

Dajin is tasked with manufacturing ten monopile foundations for the project, the company said in a social media post.

Located in the Baltic Sea next to the island of Rügen, Iberdrola’s Windanker will comprise 21 Siemens Gamesa 15 MW wind turbines.

Windanker is the third offshore wind project for Iberdrola in the German Baltic Sea. The company already operates the 350 MW Wikinger and is developing the 467 MW Baltic Eagle project.

Van Oord was contracted by Iberdrola for the installation of wind turbine foundations and the supply and installation of inter-array cables. For the installation of the monopiles, Van Oord will deploy its heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen.

Once fully commissioned in 2026, the wind farm is expected to produce enough clean energy to meet the demands of 315,000 households per year while reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 500,000 tonnes per year.
