The foundations introduce a new approach in the Asia Pacific region, using hammerless suction bucket technology to reduce noise during installation, said Jayaram Naidu, managing director of Greater Changhua 2b and 4 projects, in a recent social media post.

In addition, Naidu unveiled that 44 out of the 66 suction bucket jackets are now standing tall at the full height in the yards of HSG Sungdong in South Korea and Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) in Vietnam.

In May 2023, PTSC signed a contract with Ørsted for the manufacture and supply of 33 foundations for Greater Changhua 2b and 4.

The wind farms are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

In addition to Greater Changhua 2b and 4, Ørsted is also the developer of the Greater Changhua 1 and 2a wind farms, which were inaugurated at an event in the Port of Taichung in April 2024.

The 900 MW projects feature 111 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD wind turbines installed 35-50 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County.
