This follows the arrival of the first blades, manufactured in Le Havre by Siemens Gamesa and delivered at the end of last year.

The Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier offshore wind farm is being developed by Éoliennes en Mer des Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN), a consortium of Ocean Winds, Sumitomo Corporation, Banque des Territoires, and Vendée Energie.

Located 11.7 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometre from the island of Noirmoutier, the project will feature 61 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines. The turbines will be supported by monopiles, supplied by China’s Dajin Heavy Industry.

The components for the 61 turbines will be stored at the logistics hub adjacent to the Joubert dry dock before being transported offshore by the Vole au Vent, a Jan De Nul installation vessel, starting in the spring of next year.

Once commissioned, which is scheduled for the end of 2025, the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier project is expected to produce approximately 1,900 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 800,000 people, the developer said.
