Chantiers de l’Atlantique Subsidiary Wins French Offshore Substation Maintenance Job

Business & Finance

Chantiers de l’Atlantique subsidiary, Atlantique Offshore Energy, has been awarded contracts to carry out preventive maintenance of the two electrical substations for the 488 MW Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier and the 496 MW Dieppe Le Tréport offshore wind projects in France.

The company has been chosen by Éoliennes en Mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier (EMYN) and Eoliennes en Mer Dieppe Le Tréport (EMDT), companies whose shareholders are Ocean Winds, Sumitomo Corporation, and Banque des Territories (as well as Vendée Energie for EMYN).

Under these multi-year maintenance contracts, Atlantique Offshore Energy will be responsible for providing associated services using its own teams and the knowledge of its partners.

“These successes consolidate our already solid position in this market, for which we now maintain 5 platforms. It’s an expertise that develops our know-how and strengthens our competitiveness, at a time when we have strong ambitions for future projects in France and Europe,” said Frédéric Grizaud, Director of Atlantique Offshore Energy.

Located 15 kilometres off the city of Le Tréport and 17 kilometres off the city of Dieppe, the Dieppe Le Tréport offshore wind farm will have 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines and an installed capacity of 496 MW.

The offshore substation is being built by the French company Chantiers de’l Atlantique.

Recently DEME’s installation vessel Apollo completed the pre-piling campaign at the site, and the company is gearing up for the jacket installation phase, scheduled to begin this summer.

When it comes to les d’Yeu and Noirmoutier, the project is located 11.7 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometre from the island of Noirmoutier.

The offshore substation for the wind farm was installed by DEME and Allseas in June 2024. Designed and manufactured in Saint-Nazaire by Atlantique Offshore, the substation measures 39 metres in length, 25.5 metres in width, and 18 metres in height.
