Bids Invited for Foundation Manufacturing Facility at Port of Cherbourg

Ports of Normandy Authority (PNA) has issued a call for tenders for the production and installation of foundations for marine renewable energies at the Port of Cherbourg.

With an aim to make Cherbourg a major offshore renewables hub, the PNA is now strengthening the infrastructure of the port by constructing a quay adapted to handling of heavy loads.

After the receipt of bids, PNA plans to select one company that will set up its operations base on the extended Flamands area. The company that wins the contract will manufacture foundations for the offshore renewables sector, thus contributing to the expansion of the sector in this French region.

The configuration of the Port of Cherbourg holds major advantages for the development of logistical and industrial activities associated with offshore renewables. The site will undergo further extension works during 2014.

EDF and ALSTOM have already committed to developing their activities there. Alstom is planning to set up a facility for the production of the blades, in partnership with LM Wind Power, as well as the towers manufacturing workshop in Cherbourg (Manche).

The specifications and annexes, as well as the conditions for the tender, are available here. Deadline for the submission of tenders is January 31, 2014.
