Guidelines for Fisheries Liaison Around Offshore Renewables Developments

The Crown Estate led Fisheries Liaison with Offshore Wind and Wet renewables (FLOWW) group has recently published a revised set of best practice guidelines for fisheries liaison around offshore renewables developments.

The finalisation of these guidelines, after nearly three years in development, is a testament to the spirit of co-operation and collaboration that the FLOWW group embodies.

TÜV SÜD PMSS’s Kit Hawkins, who has been a member of the group since 2011, stated:

“The publishing of these Guidelines is an important development in ensuring the continued successful progression of the offshore renewables industry, while balancing the need for energy security and carbon reduction with making sure that the UK’s fishing industry and the communities that it supports can continue to thrive.

Successful and sustainable development can only be achieved when all stakeholders can discuss opportunities and concerns in a pragmatic and effective manner and the Guidelines should help facilitate this in the marine environment.”
