BBB, MECAL, ep4 Assist in Major Offshore Wind Farm Transaction

The offshore wind farm is planned to be implemented from 2015 onwards by a project company that has been founded especially for that purpose.

In the technical due diligence on the Sandbank project BBB cooperated, as always when working in the offshore sector, with its well-established partner companies MECAL and ep4 offshore. Key items assessed were the yield estimations, the electrical concept and technical aspects of all relevant permits and project contracts. Furthermore, the logistical, constructional and operational concepts as well as the associated assumptions for CAPEX and OPEX had to be evaluated by the offshore consulting partners.

With 72 wind turbines of the 4 megawatt class, a total nominal power of 288 megawatts and an investment volume of EUR 1.2 billion, Sandbank is one of the big wind energy projects of SWM and Vattenfall. Both companies are already jointly implementing the adjacent Dan Tysk offshore wind farm, which is supposed to be put into operation in 2015. The Dan Tysk project had also been subject to a technical due diligence conducted by BBB and its partners.
