50Hertz Seeks Cable Laying Accompanying Services

50Hertz Transmission GmbH has issued a call for tenders for work on the grid connection of offshore wind farms in the German part of the Baltic Sea.

As part of the West Cluster Adlergrund (CWA) offshore grid connection, 50 Hertz requires the construction control and supervision of onshore and offshore cable laying work. These services are expected to be carried out at different times during the period from April 2015 until the end of 2018.

In particular, the required work offshore includes: ordnance clearance, route clearance, pre-trenching, jetting, excavating, back-filling soil, cable laying, cable flush-in and trenching, cable pulling and rewinding HS cables, surveys. Onshore, the construction control and supervision will be done on: manufacturing conduit installations, including culverts, cable laying, cable tray.

The West of Adlergrund connection projects involve the installation of multiple high voltage submarine cable systems between planned offshore wind farms, approximately 40 km north-east of the island of Ruegen, to the Lubmin substation in North East Germany, and consequently with the mainland electricity grid.
