New Subsea Cable Partnership Announced

Business & Finance

UK based offshore handling systems company, Caley Ocean Systems, and umbilical and cable maker Umbilicals International, based in the US, have joined forces to offer operators and offshore contractors integrated solutions for the deployment of subsea packages and well intervention systems.

Caley Ocean Systems specializes in the design and manufacture of offshore handling systems for the oil and gas, offshore renewable energy, oceanographic science and research, and naval rescue markets.

Umbilicals International manufactures cables, hoses, umbilicals and related products. Through its market specific divisions, Umbilicals International and Geocable Systems, the company specializes in innovative solutions for electrical, optical and fluid interconnection in harsh environments encountered in subsea oil and gas field development, maintenance and repair, oceanographic and environmental research and naval defence.

Specialist cables and umbilicals offered by Umbilicals International will optimise the performance of Caley’s reel drives and winch systems. “Our cables and umbilicals are used in the main for dynamic, load bearing applications where frequent deployment and recovery of the attached system is required. Working with Caley we are able to increase cable and umbilical service life, reducing the downtime between deployments,” said Colin Zak, president, Umbilicals International.

Caley Ocean Systems and Umbilicals International are now part of the Seanamic Group, established by independent investment bank, Simmons & Company International, providing packaged solutions for operators and main contractors.
