RWE’s UK Wind Control Centre to Offer Third Party Services

Business & Finance

RWE Innogy UK’s Wind Control Centre is soon to enter the market offering renewable and cross technology third party services.

As of the 1st September, operators will be able to call upon the Wind Control Centre’s expertise, RWE announced today. The centre, based in Swindon, operates 24/7 and provides wind farm monitoring and remote trouble shooting services. In 2014, the team managed over 1GW of renewable energy facilities across the UK.

Adam Oxley, the Control Centre’s Team Leader from RWE Innogy UK said: “We have a really experienced team here. Last year alone we monitored approximately 570 individual turbines across 34 sites in the UK. That includes offshore and onshore and this year we are actively exploring expanding that experience into further wind and solar farms.

“Our role is to monitor our renewable energy facilities and ensure the smooth running of the machines. This could be by providing release of plant in accordance with Wind Turbine Safety Rules, issuing severe weather warnings, curtailing sites, or SCADA solutions. We also provide controlled site access and egress which accounts for an individual’s safety.”
