The news comes almost two weeks after the vessel was christened in the Port of Ostend, the base port of Jan de Nul’s team for the Nobelwind project.

Jan De Nul’s Vole au Vent is a 140-metre vessel specifically built for the execution of offshore wind projects, but is also deployable for other offshore industries such as oil & gas.

The 165 MW Nobelwind offshore wind farm is expected to be completed in the second half of 2017 and will feature 50 Vestas V112-3.3MW turbines installed some 45 km off the coast of Ostend.

The offshore wind farm is being set up by Belgian offshore wind developer Parkwind NV, Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and Dutch investment fund Meewind.
