OSB, a Teesside-based joint venture between EEW SPC and Bladt Industries, has now delivered a total of 40 transition pieces for the project which will comprise 87 turbines, with Bladt Industries producing the remaining 47 TPs.

The 660MW Walney Extension is located off the west coast of England, next to the 367.2MW Walney offshore wind farm.

The wind farm will consist of 40 8MW MHI Vestas and 47 7MW Siemens wind turbines and will be the largest wind farm in the world when built and commissioned in 2019.

OSB, which was officially opened in September 2015, also fabricated 16 transition pieces for the recently fully commissioned Burbo Bank Extension, the first commercial offshore wind farm to feature 8MW turbines.
