The specialist cable lay vessel NKT Victoria was launched in May 2017 and went to work on the Caithness-Moray project the same month.

Specific equipment delivered by MAATS Tech included two carousels rated to 11,500te total capacity, and two tensioners rated to 45te, which were equipped with regenerative DC braking system.

Besides equipment supply, MAATS Tech supported the build with in-house deck layout designs, and FEA engineering on both the vessel as well as the carousel.

Gavin Rippe, Business Director for MAATS Tech, said: ”The project was considered successful by all parties. The equipment went into active service straight away, and we are pleased to say that no issues have so far been reported.”

Following the completion of the Caithness-Moray project, NKT Victoria headed to Denmark to install the export cable which will connect the 600MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm to the Danish national grid.
