The Rampion Fund has been made available to support the local communities and help fund local projects, especially those related to the environment and ecology, climate change and energy, as well as those that work to improve community facilities.

Besides incorporating a GBP 3.1 million community benefit fund to support local community groups, charities and non-for-profit organisations, GBP 800,000 will be invested in a Rampion Visitor Centre. In addition, a donation of GBP 100,000 is being made to the local Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) stations.

Chris Tomlinson, Development and Stakeholder Manager for the Rampion offshore wind farm, said: “We’re delighted to be able to launch the Rampion Fund being managed by Sussex Community Foundation. Our aim is to make a real difference to people living in the area surrounding the wind farm and we hope many organisations will apply to the fund to support their local Sussex projects.”

Grants of between GBP 1,000 and 10,000 are available, with higher grants of up to GBP 50,000 for larger capital projects.

The deadline for the first round of grant making is 12 January 2018.

The 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm is being built by E.ON, the Green Investment Group (former UK Green Investment Bank Ltd) and Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge.

In September, MPI Offshore’s MPI Adventure finished the installation of the 116 MHI Vestas 3.45MW turbines at the wind farm’s site some 13km off the Sussex coast.

Rampion is due to be completed and fully operational in 2018.
