Hornsea One TPs Keep BIC Electric and Resolux Busy

Contracts & Tenders

The two companies are working as joint sub-contractors for the electrical components and installations in the transition pieces.

Resolux provides the electrical and mechanical components, while BIC installs them to complete the internal and extended platforms of the TPs.

The work started in December 2017, and the first TPs have already been loaded out.

”The project considerably strengthens BIC’s engagement in the wind industry – a sector we entered in 2016 working for with Ørsted’s Race Bank project – and it reinforces our belief in the wind energy sector as one of the most important areas for our future activity,” said BIC’s CEO, Jens-Christian Møller.

Hornsea Project One comprises 174 Siemens 7MW wind turbines, connected to three offshore collector substations and a reactive compensation substation (RCS), the latter located between the offshore wind farm and the shore.

Once commissioned in 2020, Hornsea One will be the largest operating wind farm in the world.

Offshore construction work started earlier this year, with the first of the 174 TPs installed some 120 kilometres off Yorkshire in early March.
