The first turbine towers arrived at the port following the delivery of 36 of 180 blades for the wind farm’s 60 Siemens Gamesa turbines.

The Mukran Port has recently started upgrading two berths to make room for the handling of the wind farm’s components as well as to prepare for future offshore wind projects.

Arkona offshore wind farm is located 35km northeast of the island of Rügen in the German Baltic Sea.

The offshore construction is progressing ahead of schedule, with all the monopile foundations installed in January 2018. The wind farm’s offshore substation was put into place earlier this month.

The next step in the offshore construction is the laying of the inter-array cables, followed by the installation of the wind turbines, scheduled to start this summer.

The wind farm, owned by E.ON and Statoil, is scheduled for commissioning in 2019.
