Information Event on Anholt Offshore Wind Farm Attracts Interest (Denmark)

The interest was overwhelming, and the questions many, when DONG Energy held an information event at the culture centre ‘Pavillonen’ in Grenaa on Friday 18 November 2011. The occassion was that the construction of Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm, Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, commences in January 2012.

The event was a combined exhibition and presentation, and throughout the day the project employees, together with Flemming Thomsen, Project Director, and Claus Bøjle Møller, Project Manager, were very busy explaining and answering questions from the many interested participants.

The installation activities will start in January and the first clear visible sign that the project is about to commence will arrive in the next 1-2 weeks: The installation vessel ’Svanen’ (the Swan) will arrive at Grenaa. Svanen, which will install the monopile foundations is about 100 metres tall and will be very visible in the Port of Grenaa where it will be prepared for the assignment.

Peter Svenstrup Jensen & Pia Ravn, Ebeltoft:

”It’s a good idea to put wind turbines off shore and a good alternative to fossil fuel. It’s great that they go out and inform about the project in the local communities. It’s a good chance for the man in the street to learn more.”

Oscar & Maria Roed, Syddjurs:

”When you have kids, you think about how the world should look in future, and you have a great interest in people thinking innovative thoughts. This looks like it could last for many years and generate power to many people. The event today is a good idea, and everyone has had the chance of being heard. We all have an interest in it, and it’s with great pride that we can say that it’s out here. I think it’ll be a crowd-puller.”
