TU Hamburg to Minimize Offshore Wind Risk (Germany)

TU Hamburg to Minimize Offshore Wind Risk (Germany)

The number of offshore wind farms is constantly rising.

TU Hamburg focuses in its research on the safety of employees upon offshore wind turbine installation.

The goal of this research is to identify safety critical situations and to propose the measures to minimize the risk.

Professor Moustafa Abdel-Maksoud said that they will provide a solid foundation for environment and human risk reduction.

Over the next three years, a research group of marine engineers, fluid experts, shipbuilders and geotechnical engineers will research simulation methods of interaction between offshore wind power plants and vessels.

The aim of this technical analysis is to identify the factors that could lead to safety critical situations.

Hamburg will fund this EUR 1.5 million worth project.

With this project, TU Hamburg once more gives a contribution to energy reform in Germany.
