UK: SSE Announces Full Year Results

SSE announced its full year results for the year to 31 March 2012. Its renewable energy output came to a 3,206 GWh last year. It said that the progress at Greater Gabbard and Walney raised its net offshore wind capacity to 187MW.

Lord Smith of Kelvin, Chairman of SSE said: “SSE has again delivered increases in the full-year dividend and in adjusted profit before tax demonstrates the resilience inherent in its balanced model of market-based and economically-regulated businesses, and the robustness of its strategy of focusing on operations and investment in each of those businesses.  It also demonstrates the commitment and professionalism of the people who work for SSE throughout the UK and Ireland.”

In its results for the full year, to the end of March 2012, renewable power production amounted to 7,617 GWh, which is a 73% increase in generation, compared with 4,411 GWh produced over the previous year.

SSE now owns and operates more than 50 hydro-electric power stations with over 1,450 MW of capacity, and power generation from it was over the 2011/12 period with 4,262 GWh of produced power.

On March 31st, the company had 3,020 MW of renewable energy capacity in the UK and Ireland, and now it is on course to own around 3.5 GW of renewable capacity which is operational or under construction in the UK and Ireland.

Most of its current construction sites will be approved before April 2013 to remain adequate for the existing 20-year support level.
