USA: Offshore Wind Development to Create 300,000 Jobs

According to a new study by IHS Emerging Energy Research, wind power development offshore U.S. coast will boost the economy of the region as well as create new jobs, writes North American Windpower.

The study states that the offshore wind development in relation to the Atlantic Wind Connection would create a total of 300,000 jobs and boost federal, state and local revenues by USD 7.5 billion.

Due to the fact that the U.S. companies manufacture two-thirds of components for their onshore wind farms, offshore wind development will create 70,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector, as well as 40,000 jobs in the supply chain.
