The Mainstream Renewable Power’s recently submitted application for the GBP 1.4 billion offshore wind farm proposes the laying of the 12km underground cable through the East Lothian countryside, reports East Lothian News.

The developer plans to install up to 125 wind turbines 15km off the Fife coast, with the total capacity of 450 MW.

The landing point for the offshore cable is at Thorntonloch near Dunbar, from where it will be connected with the underground cable to the new substation, located next to the existing substation at Crystal Rig II in the Lammermuir Hills.
