Geese Avoid Wind Turbine Blades

As the BBC reports, a new research by Food and Environment Research Agency (Fera) shows that the pink-footed geese are avoiding new offshore wind turbines.

Namely, Pawel Plonczkier and Ian Simms from Fera monitored pink-footed geese’s migration patterns using radar. The monitoring started in 2007, and lasted 4 years.

During the study, researchers monitored around 40,000 birds, among which most of them changed their flight pattern to avoid collision with the wind turbine blades.
